(5) Follow-up work after the ship leaves its post

After the ship leaves the port, the freight forwarder shall do the following follow-up work.

1. Send the bill of lading. The freight forwarder will exchange the clean bill of lading and mate's receipt to the shipping agent, and promptly send the bill of lading to the shipper to ensure timely settlement of foreign exchange.

2. Deal with closed, short or lost goods. If the goods are not delivered in time or cannot be declared because of non-standard documents, customs clearance is required. In the case of partial shipment, some goods have been shipped and some goods have not been shipped due to shortage or damage, this situation is called short shipment; If it cannot be transported in batches or containers, the whole batch of goods or the whole box of goods cannot be loaded on board, which is called missing loading.

After the ship leaves the port, the freight forwarder shall promptly issue the notification of customs clearance and short shipment to the consignor, so that the consignor can handle it in time. For the goods that need to be returned, the consignor shall issue a new consignment note for registration; An earlier voyage should be arranged to make up for the shortage of goods.

3. Send a departure telegram. A departure cable shall be sent to the consignee immediately after the vessel leaves port. The contents of the telegram include credit card number or contract number, gross weight, net weight, amount, name of commodity, name of vessel, date of shipment, date of sailing, etc. So that the consignee can prepare for delivery.


4. Summarize the voyage. The freight forwarder should make a voyage summary in time after the ship leaves the port for reference.
